Lawrence Guo is a Chinese international lawyer with more than 15 years of private practice experience in China. His specialization includes corporate, joint ventures, foreign direct investment, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, securities offerings, and antitrust. Lawrence is admitted to practice law in China and New York State. He is based in Beijing and Shanghai.
Mr. Guo has represented numerous multinational and Chinese corporations in corporate transactions, joint ventures, and M&A transactions in China. Some of his recent clients and transactions are:
- A world-leading U.S. automobile maker on its establishment of a Sino-foreign engine manufacturing joint venture company with a Chinese partner;
- A world-leading U.S. enterprise data management systems provider on its formation of a Sino-foreign joint venture engaged in mobile commerce, enterprise mobility and other services in China;
- A Taiwan online game operator on its proposed acquisition of equity capital of a private game creation company in Shanghai;
- A Russian bank on its general corporate, regulatory and legal matters in China;
- A world-leading Finnish company on its development of Waste-to-Fuel business in China and possible joint ventures with Chinese partners;
- A U.S. chemical manufacturer on its proposed sale of a chemical manufacturing subsidiary in China;
- A European resource development company on establishment of mining processing plants and its acquisition of mineral resources in China;
- A Canadian fish-raising public company on establishment of fish-raising enterprises and restructuring of operating enterprises in China.
Mr. Guo is a Chinese native and speaks and works in fluent English. He holds Master of Law degree from China University of Political Science & Law (Beijing), and LL.M. from Northwestern University (Chicago).
Prior to joining Jade & Fountain in 2010, Mr. Guo had practiced law for more than 10 years in the China practice groups of two international law firms followed by two years as a partner in a Chinese law firm. He also served office in the Chinese central government at the start of his career.
