Yahaya is a Partner at Law Allianz – a firm whose entertainment practice covers film, music, gaming, I.P, media and fashion, entertainment software/technology and other related areas.
A graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife; He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1993. During the course of his professional career He has been legal adviser to Aso Savings and Loans Plc., Company Secretary to First Alliance Pension and Benefits Limited (now ARM Pensions).
Also active member of both the International Bar Association, the law society of England and wales – he seats on the Entertainment committee of the Nigeria Bar Association, the Nigeria Copyrights Commission’s Copyright law Review committee and a director in the Copyright Society of Nigeria (Nigeria’s sole collective management organisation).
He advises corporate and private clients within Nigeria and abroad on new business models and distribution channels through to the management, exploitation and protection of their trademarks and brands. His clients include start-up tech companies, creative and digital agencies, entrepreneurs, high net worth musicians, actors and designers.
His recent works include consulting for the Nigeria copyright Commission, advising a development bank on the collateralization of I.P, advising a Joint Venture of 5 major Nigerian independent music labels for the acquisition, bundling and exploitation of digital rights across different African jurisdictions as well as developing a framework, guidelines for the franchising of 7 national sporting championships for the Nigeria Academicals Sports Committee (NASCOM).
Yahaya has published and presented papers on a range of Intellectual Property and entertainment issues at various local and international for a and continues to consult for private and government institutions on related matters.
Yahaya is a co - winner of the 2011 Omidyar/Legatum sponsored “Africa Awards for Entrepreneurship” held in Nairobi, Kenya.
